Outlaw Original
The Outlaw Original at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham: Britain's best-loved independent full-distance triathlon. A mass-start 3.8km swim in the regatta lake (wetsuits mandatory), a flat 183km through the Nottinghamshire countryside, and a pancake-flat marathon along the River Trent to the famous orange carpet. If you want your first full distance without mountains in the way, this is it. (Usually late July; the 2027 date is to be confirmed by the organisers.)
The Bike Course
Flat does not mean easy. It means honest.
The official route measures 182.7km with just 896m of climbing, out through the Nottinghamshire countryside and back past Holme Pierrepont Hall, and note it runs a couple of kilometres over the classic 180. There is no hill to force a rest, so the whole ride is one long aerobic question: hold a steady, aerodynamic full-distance effort and resist every urge to push on. We pace you against the organiser's own route data at full-IM intensity, so the number you carry onto the marathon is one your legs can actually run with.

Nottingham in late July is usually mild to warm, roughly 12 to 24°C. Cool / mild or Warm are the usual picks.
Power-to-weight body composition
The Outlaw is about as flat as full-distance racing gets, so weight matters less here than on a hilly course. This day is won on aerodynamics, relentless pacing discipline and fuelling; body composition is a smaller lever at the margins.
These are just mathematical outcomes from your height and weight, not a judgement on your body, and the maths can't tell how much of your weight is muscle. Any change should come from better fuelling and training, never restriction or dropping weight for its own sake, under-eating to chase "race weight" costs you more fitness than it buys. Whether it applies to you at all, and what a healthy target looks like, is exactly what our coaching team, with Adam on nutrition, work out with you 1:1.
Don't go it alone.
These headline numbers are a great start, but race day is bigger than a set of splits. What gets you to the line ready, and across it in the best possible shape, is a coaching team in your corner: mapping and running the whole journey with you across training, strength and conditioning, nutrition and race-day strategy, built around your life and adjusted as you go. That is exactly what Team TC does.
